Mr. Surendra Kumar Arya
Mr. S.K. Arya is the Chairman of $3.0 billion global Indian conglomerate – JBM Group, headquartered in Delhi-NCR. JBM Group has a diversified portfolio in the field of Auto Systems & Assemblies, Buses & Electric Vehicles, EV Charging Infrastructure, EV aggregates, Renewable Energy, Environment Management and Artificial Intelligence. Today, the Group’s portfolio spans across 60 manufacturing plants and 5 engineering & design centers and presence in over 37 countries globally today with a human asset of over 30,000 employees globally.
Born in Village Gurera, Haryana in November 1957, Mr. Arya graduated in Science from Bombay University and joined his family business of textiles. In 1983, he started his journey by setting up a new venture, JBM Industries (formerly known as Gurera Gas Cylinders Ltd.) as his first entrepreneurial venture, one of the leading suppliers to Indian Oil & Gas companies today. In pursuit of business diversification, Mr. Arya formed a strategic joint venture with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., resulting in the creation of Jay Bharat Maruti Limited (JBML), specializing in the production of sheet metal auto components and assemblies. Today, JBML stands as one of Maruti Suzuki’s largest joint ventures.Further, to cater to the growing requirements of other auto OEMs, Mr. Arya expanded the auto systems business with the formation of JBM Auto Ltd. and Neel Metals Products Ltd.
The automotive business of JBM Group caters to all key automotive segments such as 2W, 3W, passenger cars, CVs and farm equipments. The company manufactures a comprehensive range of key auto systems & assemblies, including safety critical sheet metal parts, such as, suspension & chassis systems, exhaust systems, BIW parts, cross car beams, tools, dies, etc. JBM possesses the largest tool rooms in the industry and has well established its credentials as India’s largest tooling business. Mr. Arya has been a pioneer in setting up Skill Development Centres pan India focussing on training and apprenticeship programs to skill the unemployed youth of the country, benefiting both JBM Group and the industry holistically.
Mr. Arya has been receptive to ideas that can improve the lives of people around. Be it, manufacturing buses that ease daily travel for people to being present in all key areas for development of smart cities i.e. Technology, Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities and Health. Aligned to Mr. Arya’s focus towards developing solutions that improve the lives of people, JBM recently showcased a 100% electric Medical Mobile Unit, a fully equipped mobile healthcare facility that will provide essential medical services such as primary care, diagnostics, and emergency aid to people in remote areas. The Medical Mobile Unit was showcased to Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker Shri. Om Birla at the Parliament House in New Delhi, in the presence of various other Ministers and bureaucrats.
Being a responsible corporate citizen, Mr. Arya has contributed extensively towards CSR as well. He has been instrumental in putting together initiatives such as Neel Foundation – an effort to assist, and support the underprivileged, that has been undertaking activities on upliftment of women, girl child education, village upliftment, etc. Vichaar – a social awakening entity that has been creating and distributing films on various national and social issues. Many of the films are being used extensively in schools to instil in students a sense of patriotism and responsible citizenship.
He is the President of Akhil Bhartiya Dayanand Sewashram Sangh which focuses on upliftment of the needy by offering education to the underprivileged through its robust infrastructure of Schools and educational institutes. Akhil Bhartiya Dayanand Sewashram Sangh is serving in the remotest areas through state of the art schools rendering education on CBSE patterns with all modern day infrastructure and systems. Karbi Anglong District of Assam, Dimapur in Nagaland, Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, Deoghar in Jharkhand are few such Tribal and remote locations which has got continuous support and financial aid for the locals and youth under all such initiatives led by Mr. Arya. These schools and educational institutions have been contributing as a lighthouse helping them fight darkness of ignorance and social evils for many years.
He is also the President of the prestigious organising committee –‘Gyan Jyoti Parv’,for Bi Centenary celebrations of birth of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and 150 years of Arya Samaj in 2025.
