Events
  • Teaching of microbiology at Post Graduate Level was started from the year 1984 and the first batch of M.Sc. was produced in 1986. Thus the subject microbiology has successfully covered a long distance of 24 years and the session 2008-09 is being celebrated as Microbiology Silver Jubilee Year (2008-09). During this session the department has organized several programmes, a brief summary of which is given below:
  • Microbiology Silver Jubilee Celebration (2008-09): Microbiology Silver Jubilee Year (2008-09) was celebrated on 16th Sept 2008.
  • A 15-days Summer School: A Summer School on Recent Trends in Biotechnology was organized during Sept 16-30, 2008 in which 30 M.Sc. Microbiology/Biotechnology students, research scholars and teachers of Uttarakhand participated the Summer school. This School was inaugurated on 16th February 2009 by Padma Shree, Ex Vice-Chancellor, Prof A.N. Purohit (FNA) and Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director UCOST. Prof. D.K. Maheshwari threw light on the objectives of the summer school.
  • Lecture series: Imminent Scientists/teachers from several universities were invited to deliver lectures for M.Sc. Microbiology/research students on different aspects of microbiology.
  • Blood Testing Week: On 1 Oct 2008,blood testing of Gurukula Vidyalaya students were done.
  • A Debate/Quiz among M.Sc. Microbiology students of Haridwar on Role of Microbes in Human Welfare on 9th Nov., 2008
  • A 5-days Training: The department is also organizing a 5-days Training Course Course on “Microbial fermentation and microbial inoculate preparation for organic farming” from 6 to 10 Feb., 2009 where 30-40 M.Sc. Microbiology/Biotechnology students and research scholars as well as teachers will be selected for this course
  • Gurukula Microbiology Alumni Meet: M.Sc. Microbiology students produced from this department are occupying various positions in the country and also working in various departments in other countries. On the eve of Silver Jubilee celebration the department is organizing one Day Gurukula Micro Alumni Meet on 8th Feb., 2009 to discuss various issues in Microbiology.
