MHRD has announced a National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) as a Public-Private partnership model between the Government (through its implementing agency AICTE) and the Education Technology companies of India. AICTE is playing a role of facilitator between Ed-tech companies and students/youth thereby enhancing their skill set resulting into better employability.

The scheme also includes free seats for existing students of higher education from economically and socially weaker sections of society. The distribution of free seats would be done through the NEAT portal, based on student information shared by Educational Institutions.

It is my pleasure to inform you that NEAT phase 1 has been announced and 30 products have been recommended by NEAT for students. A reference sheet for products offered through NEAT is enclosed.

Kindly refer the earlier email sent in this regard in November 2019. In continuation to the same email, it is requested to send the student information through the enclosed excel sheets, basis the criteria given below:

1. The students having a family income of less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum are eligible for free seats. It is the responsibility of the Educational Institution to collect information and verify the student’s documents before submitting his name as a nomination for the free seats. Students eligible for free seats have to be filled in Excel sheet named as ‘Free seat student data’ by the Institution. Students can fill three preferences for products for a free seat. Also, the proposed NEAT free seat scheme is enclosed for reference.

2. ‘Student details for NEAT’ requires details of all students. This would be used for verifying students registering for paid seats.
